The Merrillville personal injury law firm, Schlyer & Associates, the Aggressive Trial Lawyers, is warning of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission of about 900,000 Push ‘N Snap Cabinet Locks imported by Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) Inc., of Columbus, Indiana.

According to the recall notice, young children can disengage the cabinet locks, allowing access to cabinet contents and posing the risk of injury, due to dangerous or unsafe items.  DJG has received 200 reports of locks that did not adequately secure the cabinet, including reports of damaged locks. Of the reported incidents, the firm is aware of 140 children between the ages of 9 months and 5 years who were able to disengage the locks and gain access to the cabinet’s contents. In three of the reported incidents, the children who gained access swallowed or handled dishwashing detergent, window cleaner or oven cleaner, and were treated, observed and released from emergency treatment centers.

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission,  the recall involves Safety 1st Push ‘N Snap cabinet locks with model numbers 48391 and 48442. The model numbers are printed on the back of the product and on packaging. The locks are used to secure cabinets with two straps that wrap around the knobs or handles on a cabinet door. When the product is in the “lock” position, a green triangle is shown through a window on the device. The Safety 1st logo is embossed on the front of the lock. Locks manufactured between January 2004 and November 2010 are included in the recall. The date of manufacture is embossed on the back. The arrow on the date wheel points to the month and the numbers of either side of arrow represent the year of manufacture.

The recalled locks were sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, and other retail stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com from January 2004 through February 2012 for between $2 and $4.

If you have any of the recalled locks, you should immediately remove the recalled locks from cabinets and contact DJG at (866) 762-3212 for a free replacement Push ‘N Snap lock with model numbers HS158 or HS159. When removing the recalled locks, consumers are urged to immediately store dangerous items out of reach of children.

According to the recall notice, the plastic disc, or T Disc, that holds the coffee or tea can burst and spray hot liquid and coffee grounds or tea leaves onto consumers using the brewer and onto bystanders, posing a burn hazard.

The recalled Tassimo coffee brewers were sold at various department, mass merchandise and home improvement stores nationwide and on various websites, including www.tassimodirect.com, from June 2008 through February 2012 for between $100 and $250. The Tassimo Professional model was sold directly to hotels and food service providers and they are being contacted directly.

Dr. Promila Mehta Paul, our former personal injury client, is still missing.   No updates from local, state or federal law enforcement for some time.  We fear the worst.  The FBI, Highland and Munster, Indiana police departments need your help to locate her.

We were Dr. Mehta's personal injury lawyers and still remain hopeful for her safe return.  We represented Dr. Metha in two separate car crashes.  The second crash involved her ex-husband, Dr. Shashi Damon Paul.  Dr. Paul is a pediatrician with an office in Munster, Indiana.

Honda issued this recall to repair a software problem that could damage the automatic transmission.

The recall includes 1.5 million vehicles in the United States.  For example, globally, the recall affects four-cylinder Accord sedans for the model years 2005 to 2010.

His Honda recall also includes the CR-V crossover for the model years 2007 to 2010 as well as the small SUV Element from 2005 to 2008.

If the software is not updated, the automatic transmission in these vehicles could be damaged if the driver quickly shifts between gears. That might cause the engine to stall or make it difficult to put the car into park.  Therefore, the automatic transmission in these vehicles could be damaged if the driver quickly shifted between gears. Honda said the problems might arise if the transmission were quickly shifted between the reverse, neutral and drive positions. A driver might do this in an attempt to dislodge a vehicle in mud or snow.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission  has issued a recall of over 1 Million toy keys with remote imported by Battat Inc., of Plattsburgh, New York, the personal injury law firm of Schlyer & Associates, the Aggressive Trial Lawyers, is warning.

The Northwest Indiana personal injury law firm, Schlyer & Associates, Aggressive Trial Lawyers, warns of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission of 37,000 Safety Latches and Outlet Covers sold by Prime-Line.

According to the recall notice, the screws on the safety latches and outlet covers can loosen and/or break. When this happens, young children can gain access to electrical outlets and other potentially hazardous items.  Apparently, the recall pertains to Prime-Line child safety drawer and cabinet latches and outlet covers with rotating receptacle covers.

The recalled latches were sold at Ace Hardware, Bostwic-Braun, Cal-Do-It Centers, Do-It-Best, Friedman Brothers, Menards, Orgill, The Andersons Inc. and True Value stores nationwide between October 2010 and June 2011 for between $2.50 and $2.70. The recalled outlet covers were sold at Ace Hardware, Cimarron Lumber & Supply, Do-It-Best, Friedman Brothers, Handy Hardware, Menards and W.E. Aubuchon stores nationwide between October 2009 and June 2011 for about $3.50.

The Northwest Indiana personal injury law firm, Schlyer & Associates, Aggressive Trial Lawyers warns of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission,  of 13,000 Circo Children’s Task Lamps sold only at Target Stores.

According to the recall notice, the lamps may overheat, causing the adhesive inside the lamp socket to melt and migrate into the bulb area of the socket. The cooled glue can adhere to the light bulb base and make the bulb difficult to remove which can result in a broken light bulb, posing a risk of laceration to consumers. Melted flammable glue that migrates onto the electrical components of the lamp poses a risk of fire.

Four styles of the children’s task lamp are included in this recall with the names Striped, Sports, Dot or Flower Dot and have a label with the UPC number on the bottom according to the recall notice.

The recalled lights were sold at Target stores nationwide and Target.com from January 2011 to April 2011 for about $13.

The Merrillville personal injury law firm, Schlyer & Associates is warning of a recall issued by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission of 240,000 Adventure Playsets Wooden Swing Sets.

According to the recall notice, the wood in the posts of the fort sections on the swing sets can weaken due to rotting, posing a fall hazard.  The recalled swing sets come with swings, slides and ladders. Each set has a fort structure that uses green or cranberry colored plastic coated 2”x 4” wood upright posts and a green nylon fabric covered shade. The sets were sold under the following names: Bellevue, Bellevue II, Belmont, Durango, Durango II, Sedona, Tacoma, Tacoma II, Ventura, Venture II and Yukon,. The name is printed on the manufacturer’s instructions that came with the play set.

The recalled swing sets were sold at Academy Sports (the Yukon); Mills and Menards (the Ventura/II) all from 2005 to 2007; Mills (the Belmont) in 2004; Toys-R-Us (the Bellevue/II); and Walmart (the Tacoma/II, Durango/II, and Sedona). The units sold for $300-$600.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall of 20,000 B-Nimble Strollers imported by Britax Child Safety Inc., of Charlotte, North Carolina the Northwest Indiana personal injury law firm of Schlyer & Associates is warning.

According to the recall notice, an audible click heard when the brake pedal is pressed can give a false impression that the brake is fully engaged when it is not. When the brake is not engaged, the stroller can move unexpectedly posing a risk of injury to the child occupant.

According to the FDA, Dole Fresh Vegetables is voluntarily recalling 2,880 cases of DOLE® Italian Blend salad  and 442 cases of Kroger Fresh Selections Italian Style Blend salad , due to a possible health risk from Listeria monocytogenes the personal injury law firm of Schlyer & Associates is warning.

Mazda is recalling 103,300 cars from model years 2008 and 2009 due to problems with motors on windshield wipers, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The recall should start around July 15, 2011.

The recall involves 2008-2009 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed 3 vehicles made between Jan. 7, 2008 and Nov. 28, 2008 and affects a possible bent ground terminal in the windshield wiper motor.

Lake County, Indiana Lawyers Advise of Jaguar Recall

According to the defect notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there is a problem that could cause power steering  fluid leaks in the engine compartment. The recall includes 6,085 vehicles built from June 27, 2009, through March 10, 2010.

The loss of fluid would make the car harder to steer and could also cause a fires if it came in contact with a hot surface under the hood, according the the recall notice.

If you or a loved one has a recalled vehicle, you should contact your local dealership where technicians are expected to replace the power steering fluid pipes. The service is free of charge. Owners can contact Jaguar at 1-800-452-4827.
