Valerie Wallace's Obama Lino Cut Print

posted by framers on Feb 28th, 2009 at 8:55 pm

If you saw the thought-provoking article on the phenonomen of Obama memorabilia in Bay Area homes in the Los Angeles Times in January, you may have noticed the striking print in the photo above. Wallace_ObamaThe artist is Valerie Wallace, and by coincidence we heard from her husband Jason Hitzert yesterday. He directed us to Valerie's Etsy site where the prints are now for sale. A close inspection of this striking lino cut reveals very interesting detail.

Valerie's site mentions this story: "For Guillermo Maciel, the Obama image is a 24-by-32-inch lino cut that he purchased from [Valerie Wallace] at a fundraiser last summer. (The artist sold it to him at a discount after learning that Maciel was working as a field organizer for Obama.) Maciel loves the lino cut because it depicts Obama as a regular guy — wrinkles on his brow and around his eyes, a little tie at his throat..." We have the full LA Times story on our Framer's Workshop In the News Page .

The 22" x 28" print sells for $80. Our customers bring in Obama images on a daily basis and this is one of the most unique we have seen. Contact us if you would like us to order one for you. Also, be sure to see Valerie's other Presidential prints. What a fresh talent!

About The Artist:

Valerie Wallace lived in Northern Illinois and worked as a volunteer for Project Vote in 2004. Having a history of supporting Barack Obama, she created a relief print portrait to serve as a Democratic fundraising piece going into the 2008 primary. Valerie currently lives in the Portland metro area and is an adjunct professor at PSU.

It's like magic! No more step ladder. Framing Visualization Digital Preview

posted by framers on Jul 19th, 2007 at 8:26 pm

After years of lending our step ladder to customers so they could get a little bit higher up to try to imagine what their framed art might look like, this year we bought the Wizard Integrated Framer Visualization system, and what a difference its made. No more guesswork! Our clients are seeing their finished framing projects even before they place their framing orders. No fear of framing, no uncertainty!

Visualize before

It works like this: A camera mounted above our design table takes a photo of your art & several framing choices. With just a few mouse clicks you'll see a digital rendition of the finished project on our 20" computer screen. Once you see your project we can adjust mat margins, frames, mat colors, and even your own wall color behind your framing choice! No more guesswork--ever. See our new Visualization Web Page for more Photos!
